Heroes are GENEROUS!

Are you a cockroach or a moth?

"What? I am a human being?!!" I know, I know. Well, this week in Graceland Studios, the Bug Man asked if we were a cockroach or a moth. Do we run away from the Light like cockroaches or do we go toward the Light, like a moth? So, I hope your answer to that question is, "I am a moth!"

Our Big Idea was lots of fun this week: "I ain't no cockroach". Our power verse told us that "if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us". What an awesome promise!!!!

Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye!!!

This past Sunday was bittersweet in Graceland Studios. We said "hello" to the upcoming Graceland Studio-ers, and "good-bye" to our AWESOME middle schoolers. As we have now started back to school, we looked through our back pack of school supplies to see what we can remember about God's love for us (ask your kids about that). Then we looked to A Snoodles Tale, my favorite story ever, to remind us of how God sees us. This year at school, we are going to put our back packs, remember all the cool things God has put in our "packs" and see ourselves and others the way God does.

I can't wait to see you this Sunday as we continue in our "Bugs" series. The Bug Man has another cool, creepy bug to help teach us a great big lesson!

Back to School!

What an exciting Summer we have had in Graceland Studios!!! We have been busy, busy with camp, Life School Musical, Water Day, and this Sunday, Promotion Sunday. A new school year is here, (wow, that was fast), and we are going to celebrate this Sunday. Everyone will be moving up to new small groups and our 6th graders will be moving up to the middle school ministry. So, be there this Sunday at 10 AM as we gear up for the new school year!

Transformation

As we continued with our "BUGS" series this week, we learned about the transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly and how it is a great example of our life in Christ. Before we are saved, we are like the catipllar crawling through the grime and sludge of sin. Always in fear of being squashed. But, when we give our hearts to Christ He transforms us into a beautiful butterfly that soars above all of that "stuff". We become a new creation in Christ.

New Series Starting This Sunday!!!

Jesus Calms the Storm!!!

This week in Graceland Studios we talked about all the storms of life that we face. But we also talked about the One who calms those storms. Just like He did for the disciples when they were in the boat and a terrible storm came. Jesus saw that His disciples were scared, and He simply said, "Peace, be still". Ahhhhh! Just hearing that makes you breathe a little better doesn't it? Jesus loves us so much, and all we have to do is trust Him, and He will speak, "Peace, be still" to our storm!

To Infinity and Beyond!

When you think of Buzz Lightyear, what is the first thing that comes to mind? "To infinity and beyond", right? This week in Graceland Studios we talked about what infinity means and where we will spend "infinity and beyond". Jesus told His disciples before He left this earth that He was going to prepare a place for us. That place is Heaven. A wonderful place full of love, peace, and no night-time (which means NO BED TIME, YAY!!!)

Our power verse this week was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE."



It is time for Life School Musical!!! It is going to be so much fun! If you missed this weeks kick-off, don't worry, we can still sign you up. The practices will be every Wednesday night at 6:30. Performance will be Sunday, August 29th.

We all know the famous quote from Toy Story, as Woody tries to convince Buzz once again, "You are a toy, T-O-Y, toy"! This week in Graceland Studios we learned that we are also a T-O-Y (The Only You). There is no one else like us. God made us special and with a purpose.

As we continue with our Toy Story curriculum, we learned that "A good soldier never leaves a man behind". We found out that putting on the armor of God makes us "a good soldier". Then we looked at the story of the Good Samaritan, which taught us how important it is to never leave a man behind.

"You've Got a Friend In Me"

Our Toy Story series has begun! This week we talked about the song we all know and love from Toy Story, "You've Got a Friend in Me". Our Big Idea stated: I will BARF, Be A Real Friend! We talked about Paul's friend, Barnabas, who was a good friend to him, even when others were'nt. To help us remember how to Be A Real Friend, we learned that a real friend CARES. C- Challenges us, A-Accepts us, R-Respects us, E-Encourages us, S-Sticks with us. These are all things we need to do as we try to be a real friend to others, but sometimes we fail. No one is perfect, except the ultimate friend, Jesus. John 15:13-15 tells us that we are friends of God. No one can or ever will be a better friend than Him. Our Power Vese reminded us: "Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family." Proverbs 18:24

Toy Story Competition has officially begun!!!!

I am so excited about the new competition we started in Graceland Studios!!!This competition will be every Sunday until June 20th. So, here is how it works. Each week your child will receive tickets for:
1) Being at Graceland Studios
2) Bringing their Bible
3) Bringing their Offering
4) Leaving their name on the blog (weekly)
5) Bringing a new toy for Operation Christmas Child. (1 ticket for each toy)

We are using this time to get started on our toy collection for Operation Christmas Child. The type of toys we need are: coloring books, crayons, small dolls, stuffed animals, cars, yo-yo's, etc. The toy needs to be new and small enough to fit in a shoe box, allowing room for other items.

After sign in each Sunday, your child will go to the Toy Story competition table. There will be someone there to give them the tickets they earned. They will then sign their name on the tickets and put them in the bucket for a special drawing on June 20th.

Now for the Grand Prize!

We are planning to take a trip to see Toy Story 3 on June 27 immediately following the Sunday morning service. If your child's name is drawn, you and your family will go for FREE (popcorn and snacks included)!!!!! So, help your child to get as many entries as possible, starting now. God Has No Favorites!!!

This week in Graceland Studios we talked about the fact that "God Has No Favorites"!!! We looked at the story of the woman who washed Jesus feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. Though the Pharisees thought she was not worthy to even be around Jesus, Jesus loved and accepted her. We should follow that example. Love everyone, just as Jesus does.

First of all, I want to say THANK YOU so much for your very sweet card you sent to me while I was sick last week. It made me feel so much better!!! I missed all of you, but I know Mr. Ryan and the rest of the Graceland Studio Crew had it under control. Thank you Studio Crew!!!


So, I know you are all dying to know who will be served Ice Cream Sundaes this week. Drum roll please....... And the winner is...... the BOYS!!! Congratulations boys!!! You will be served Ice Cream Sundaes this Sunday by the girls. Can You See Me Now?

This week in Graceland Studios we talked about the man who was born blind. Jesus healed this man by spitting in the dirt (Jesus just went to a whole new level of coolness in the eyes of some of our Graceland Studios boys) and rubbing it in his eyes. He then told the man to go wash his eyes. The man did so and he was HEALED!!! Though we may not be blind, these are some lessons we can learn from this story:
1. Jesus sees you
2. Jesus knows your real needs
3. Jesus works in many different ways - Just trust Him

Never too Late!!!

I hope everyone is getting back into the "groove" of getting up early and going to school, ugh! Only a few more weeks left until Summer Break, YAY!!!



Our lesson this week dealt with the fact that it is never too late to give your heart to Jesus. No matter how bad you have been, if you ask Jesus to forgive your sins, He will! Even as Jesus was hanging on the cross, the thief, who had lived a life of sin, asked Jesus to remember him as He entered His kingdom. At that moment, the thief was TRANSFORMED into a follower of Christ. Jesus forgave him and though his heart was "dirty" from sin, Jesus made it "clean" (ask your kids how we demonstrated that this week).

Happy Spring Break, WOO HOO!!!

Hello Graceland Kiddos!!! I hope you guys are having an AWESOME Spring Break!!!



We had a really great time at the egg hunt this week. Over 1,500 eggs were hidden and most were found :) Thank you, so much, to all of the volunteers, you guys rocked it!!! To view the egg hunt photos, click here.

We also had a great time doing our salvation bracelets with Mrs. Kim. I wanted to post the meanings of the beads in case you needed a reminder:
Black: sin in our heart
Red: Jesus blood shed for our sins
White: After we ask Jesus into our hearts, our hearts are "clean"
Blue: Water baptism, to show the world that we are saved
Green: Growth in our relationship with God
Yellow: The promise of eternity in Heaven

I hope you guys wear these bracelets often to remind you to share your faith with others.
